ROCHESTER, NY – Nick Lappin recorded his third hat trick of the year on Friday night as the Binghamton Devils ended a three-game road trip with a 4-2 win over the Rochester Americans in front of 5,046 fans at Blue Cross Arena.

Rochester got on the board with a power-play goal 11:55 into the game off the stick of Stuart Percy. Danny O’Regan sent a pass to Percy at the point and he skated to the top of the circle and lifted a shot over the shoulder of goaltender Eddie Lack for the 1-0 lead. The goal was Percy’s seventh of the year from O’Regan and CJ Smith.

Nathan Bastian deflected in a Michael Kapla shot from the point on the power play to tie the game at one goal apiece. Kapla fired a shot and Bastian deflected it at the hash marks for his eighth of the year at 14:56 of the first with Kapla and Brett Seney on the assists. Quenneville and Jacob MacDonald collected the assists and the Devils took the one-goal lead into the intermission along wth a 12-8 shot advantage.

Lappin scored his second of the night late in the second period to give the Devils a 3-1 lead. Lappin took a pass from Tim Kennedy and moved into the left wing circle on an odd-man rush. After putting on the brakes, Lappin waited and fired the puck by the glove of Wilcox, off the post, and into the net for his 27th of the year at 15:02.

Sahir Gill responded for the Americans to pull within one after two periods. Gill took a pass from Hudson Fasching down the right wall and lifted a backhander by the right arm of Lack for his 16th of the year. Gill’s goal came with just 3:05 left in the period and the Devils took the 3-2 lead into the final period with the shots favoring Binghamton, 24-23.
