TORONTO – The Binghamton Devils collected three of four points from the Toronto Marlies on Sunday evening in a 3-2 overtime loss at Scotiabank Arena.
Mason Marchment started the scoring and gave the Marlies a 1-0 lead 12:14 into the game. Adam Brooks hit Marchment with a pass in the neutral zone and he beat goaltender Eddie Lack under the glove from the left wing circle with the lone assist going to Brooks.
The Devils evened up the game at one on the power play late in the opening period. John Ramage’s shot on net was stopped and Nathan Bastian was there to put in the rebound with 3:39 to go. Assists on Bastian’s fourth of the year were credited to Ramage and Michael Kapla and the game was tied after 20 minutes.
Just 6:31 into the second period, John Quenneville gave the Devils a one-goal lead. Marian Studenic took a pass from Quenneville and gave it back to him for his fourth of the year into a wide-open net. Assists were given to Studenic and Ryan Schmelzer for the 2-1 advantage.
Toronto answered back with a five-on-three power-play goal late in the second. Dmytro Timashov set up Calle Rosen and his slap shot beat Lack over the left shoulder to tie the game, 2-2. Rosen’s goal was his second of the year and came with just 0:24 left and the game was tied heading to the third.
After no scoring in the third, Marchment scored 3:40 into overtime and the Marlies defeated the Devils, 3-2. Binghamton took three of four points from Toronto as Lack stopped 26 of 29 and McAdam denied 27 of 29.
