BELLEVILLE – Evan Cormier stopped 37 of 38 shots as the Binghamton Devils picked up their first win of the season on the road over the Belleville Senators on Friday night at CAA Arena, 2-1.

Binghamton took an early 1-0 lead on a breakaway. After a Cormier save, Nathan Bastian hit Chris Conner with a long breakaway pass in the netural zone. Conner went in and slid the puck between the legs of Senators’ goaltender Marcus Hogberg for the one-goal lead. The goal was Conner’s first of the year with assists from Bastian and Cormier just 3:44 into the game.

Under two minutes later, the Devils took a two-goal lead. Joey Anderson scooped up a loose puck behind Belleville’s net and sent a blind pass to Brett Seney who blasted a one timer by Hogberg for a 2-0 lead. Seney’s goal came at the 5:17 mark of the first period with the lone assist going to Anderson.

The Senators got on the board while shorthanded just over mid way through the first period. Nick Paul tapped the puck up the left wing wall and created a two-on-none rush with Morgan Klimchuk. Paul fed Klimchuk and he fired the puck by a diving Cormier to split the Devils’ lead in half, 2-1. Binghamton took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission despite being out shot, 14-6.

The Devils held on for the one-goal victory after no scoring in the second or third period. Cormier earned first star honors, denying 37 of 38 and recording his first professional point.

The Devils return home Saturday, October 19 as they host the Hartford Wolf Pack at 7:05 p.m. College students can get $10 tickets and your choice of a free drink or slider at Craft! Tickets are available by calling or texting “TICKETS” to 607-722-7367.
